Inknoda tee: Hope
Cinematic typography tee for the Inknoda apparel line. The word HOPE set in an elegant serif with a double-exposure portrait imagery masked inside the letterforms. The type carries the picture rather than the picture carrying the type.
Double exposure typography works when the image inside the letters is emotionally weighted enough to earn the technique. This piece pairs a soft portrait of a woman looking upward with the word HOPE in a classical serif that lets the letterforms breathe. The result reads as fine art before it reads as apparel, which is the effect the Inknoda line is built around.
Type decision
Classical serif chosen for its verticality and its openness. Serifs give the mask enough surface area for the portrait to read cleanly, and the vertical composition (HO stacked over PE) creates a portrait frame that the imagery sits inside naturally.
Image inside the letters
The portrait is masked inside the letterforms with a slight overrun so the image bleeds past the type edge in a few controlled places, which sells the double exposure rather than looking like a clean paste in. Subtle grain added to the portrait to help the print retain that filmic quality on cotton.
Small cross detail
A small plus mark centered between the two rows of type. Reads as a compositional anchor and also as a subtle spiritual reference in a word that carries theological weight for the buyer this piece is aimed at.
Production notes
DTG (direct to garment) print on 100 percent cotton women scoop neck, white ground. The portrait mask requires high resolution DTG to avoid dot patterning on the fine gradients. Small crown mark bottom right hem for brand attribution.
