Inknoda tee: Greatness

Typographic tee for the Inknoda apparel line. GREATNESS set in a heavy display face with the word CHASE brush stroked through it in red, cancelling the chase so what remains is the state. Statement piece designed to read from across a room and reward closer inspection.

Typographic apparel lives or dies on the design decision behind the words, not the words themselves. Most motivational tees stack a slogan and call it a day. This one earns its wear by making the reader do the work: on first glance you read CHASE GREATNESS, on second glance you notice CHASE is struck through, and the meaning inverts. The piece rewards attention.

Type decision

Heavy condensed display face for GREATNESS with intentional rough brush edges to give the letterforms a hand cut feel rather than a clean vector read. The rough edges are what let the red slash through CHASE sit naturally on top rather than looking like a Photoshop layer.

The slash

Single red brush stroke crossing out the word CHASE, drawn once at the right pressure so the ink weight varies from thin to thick to thin. A cleaner slash would kill the piece. The chaos in the brush stroke is the emotional payload.

Placement and scale

Chest centered at a size that reads clearly across a bar or a gym floor without dominating the wearer. Small crown mark bottom right hem for brand attribution without competing with the primary design.

Production notes

DTG (direct to garment) print on 100 percent cotton crew neck, white ground. Screen printed alternative available for larger production runs. Red slash printed as a separate pass to hold the ink density and avoid muddying against the black.
